The new sports centre at North West Kent College in Dartford, Kent, has
been named the Österberg Sports Centre.
The centre was officially opened in October 2011 by Olympic and
Commonwealth medallist, Christopher Cook.
The Österberg Sports Centre has an eight-court sports hall, indoor cricket nets, a fully equipped gym, fitness testing equipment and ‘state of the art’ teaching facilities. The building has been designed to maximize energy efficiency, including solar panels for heating and a roof designed to make best use of natural light without glare.
Bergman Österberg Union members are thrilled that Madame Österberg has
been honoured by this excellent facility being named the Österberg Sports
Centre. Sports Centre staff are keen to
make Centre users aware of Madame’s pioneering work and have provided the BÖU
Archive with information boards in the Reception area. At present the information boards are being used to display photographs and information sheets illustrating Madame Österberg's work.
